Prayer Cover

Prayercover Here is another prayer cover I made for a sick friend. The recipient was male, so I decided to make it into a lap blanket and not a shawl :).

I used the new "Vanna's Choice" Lion Brand yarn and really like it!  This pattern is called "Tweed" and is from Vanna White's new pattern book.  I have already bought more yarn to make it in other colors.

Prayer Covers

Shawl2 I made a prayer shawl for a friend who is dealing with an ongoing illness. This is a ministry I would like to develop for our church, but I haven't found the time to really pursue it yet. I would like to call it "Prayer Covers" and include lap blankets as an alternative to shawls. These can be given to people in time of illness or grief, but also as a blessing in times like weddings, baptism, births, etc.

Here's an example of what the cards says with it:

This prayer shawl was made especially for you.  As each stitch was made, a prayer was said for you.  As you wrap it around your shoulders, may the warmth and weight of it symbolize the warmth and weight of God’s love and comfort during this time.  May it serve as a reminder of all our love and prayers blanketing you. May it be symbolic of an unconditionally loving God who enfolds, comforts, covers, nurtures, hugs, and shelters you.

Leaf fabric lap quilt

Made this one with only 3 different fabrics.  I love the green leaf print--hard to see in the picture.  Green with gold leaves.

Some wall-hanging from around our house. My mom did the Dahlia one.

Flannel Bear Quilt

Img_0421 Flannel bear quilt.  My mom did the quilting on this one.  Too hard to get the flannel through the machine. She hand quilts.

Strips and Curves Quilt

Strips and curves wall-hanging from a class I took.  Not my favorite pattern to do...too much cutting and piecing and too many curves!

Really Big Clock

Not really a quilt, but a HUGE 18-ft by 18-ft banner of a clock for our youth pastor to use to make his point that we shouldn't let our schedules control our family lives.

Img_0409 My sweet daughter standing in front of it helps show how big it really is!  I've need worked with that much fabric before!  I had to take all the furniture out of my living room to work on half of it at a time.

Library Quilt

For the children's area in our church's library.

Grace2_0971_29 Quilt says "Everyone loves a good story" and shows all the animals listening to the owl read a book.

Riding Together Quilt

For our neighbor and her daughter for Christmas. They love to go riding together so this seemed like a perfect wall-hanging for them
